The Three-Letter Word That May Change Your

golden teacher A question came to mind recently. I’m not sure why, but I was able to answer it very quickly. It was this. Would you give up your life if it meant that the rest of the world would live? My answer was yes. It was the lesson of compassion that I had learned from mankind’s amazing teacher. I never even realized that it was living deep inside my heart. Maybe my soul is finally outgrowing my skin.

A man and his wife had the good fortune to possess a goose that laid a golden egg every day. For a while they were happy and lived well, but then they became impatient with how quickly they were accumulating their wealth. So they thought that if the goose could lay such a fine egg of gold, it must be lined with the precious metal. If they cut the goose open, they could get the gold all at once. Of course we all know what happened, the goose was just a goose and there was no gold inside.

A teacher cannot be a friend to his/her students. You are ‘in loco perantis’. That carries responsibility. Obviously, you need to be approachable. That means you need to have a friendly demeanour. Tell your class when and where you are available to see them about any issues they have and help they need.

Unfortunately, the school system at that time didn’t provide any career guidance and so I made my choice based on very superficial data. In fact, when I look back on this decision, I can laugh at myself wholeheartedly. After all, I decided to become a teacher because I liked my uncle Jack. He was a school superintendent in Manitoba when I was growing up and I admired him. And, I wanted to earn a university degree because no one in my family had taken that route.

In my situation, I always got into trouble in school for talking too much. In my workplaces, I always got into trouble for challenging the managerial systems, asking too many questions and trying to change things or fix things. Guess what I am doing today? Today, I get paid for doing all those things. What does this say about me? It says that I like challenge and change, short projects rather than long, drawn-out, repetitive work, talking to people, investigating and challenging systems. In other words, I am better suited to being a consultant. What about you? Who are you and what do you want? Find out who you are and match this to job characteristics that interest you.

I deeply know that I can do this only because I was given that book. In was literally receiving access to the Akashic Records. I awoke feeling profoundly changed. That feeling has stayed with me forever. I suppose I could have been given that book without my Soul ever letting me in on it, but then would I ever have taken a dream interpretation class? Would I have ever tried to do past life readings? Would all those people who have been healed by the past life readings ever have been healed?

My last student turned out to be very interested in historic buildings – we live near Salisbury Cathedral, and so there’s a golden teaching opportunity ‘on tap’. So we left the classroom and visited Salisbury Cathedral. It’s got the tallest spire in the UK, at 123 metres. They started building it in 1220, and topped off the spire by 1330.

It was bumpy at first, but eventually something remarkable happened to this class of rough talking, tougher acting adolescents. Increasingly, outbursts like, “@!#$%, don’t look at me,” were being met with a growing chorus of, “there are no @#$%s in this class!” Conflicts decreased; while smiles and learning flourished. The kids even learned to tolerate my lectures. Surely my grandmother was on to something.

Next the parents need to balance reality for their child. They need to have their children juggle one ball for sports, one for school, and one for family. When a child/athlete drops a ball, they need to be there to help them recover and get the ball aloft again. Those two tasks, providing and balancing, are the parent’s most essential. Beyond that they need to sit back and observe, allow their child/athlete to do what they can, make decisions on their outcomes, wrestle with the results and unconditionally love them regardless of the win or loss.
